Corrosion behaviour of biomedical β-titanium alloys with the surface-modified by chemical etching and electrochemical methods

چکیده
This work studied the corrosion behaviour of Ti-12Mo-6Zr-2Fe alloy with different surface conditions: untreated and chemically treated (CST), anodised nanotubes (Nt) nanopores (NP). These samples were immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF) for 1, 7, 14 days. Samples Nt NP displayed higher resistance lower passivation current (ipass) than CST after days resting SBF. Furthermore, traditional equivalent circuits a new two-channel transmission line model employed to efficiently simulate electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data conditions.

Nanomechanical properties of surface-modified titanium alloys for biomedical applications.
The mechanical properties of the oxide layers developed at elevated temperature on three vanadium-free titanium alloys of interest for biomedical applications were investigated by means of the nanoindentation technique. The as-received alloys (Ti-13Nb-13Zr, Ti-15Zr-4Nb and Ti-7Nb-6Al) and their oxide scales formed by reaction with air at 750 degrees C for several oxidation times were analysed c...
متن کاملIn vitro corrosion behaviour of titanium alloys without vanadium
The corrosion behaviour of three new non-toxic titanium alloys for use as biomaterials has been investigated. The corrosion current densities of these Ti alloys have low values, indicating a passive state that is stable with time. These values were calculated by using both direct and alternate current methods. The comparison with Ti–6Al–4V, widely used as biomaterial, shows slightly lower corro...
متن کاملSurface Characterization and Tribological Behaviour of Ti-Ni-P Intermetallic Coatings on Titanium Alloys
In this research, tribological behavior of Ti-Ni-P intermetallic coatings on titanium substrates have been investigated under dry reciprocating conditions. Hardness profile testing results exhibit that high surface hardness has been attained and static indentation result shows that the intermetallic coating has better adhesion strength than the conventional ceramic coatings. In this respect, th...

متن کاملModification of the Surface Topography and Composition of Ultrafine and Coarse Grained Titanium by Chemical Etching
In this study, we present the detailed investigation of the influence of the etching medium (acidic or basic Piranha solutions) and the etching time on the morphology and surface relief of ultrafine grained (UFG) and coarse grained (CG) titanium. The surface relief and morphology have been studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the spectral el...
