Constrained Radar Waveform Design for Range Profiling

Range profiling refers to the measurement of target response along radar slant range. It plays an important role in automatic recognition. In this paper, we consider design transmit waveform improve range performance systems. Two metrics are adopted for optimization problem: one is maximize mutual information between received signal and impulse (TIR); other minimize minimum mean-square error estimating TIR. addition, practical constraints on waveforms considered, including energy constraint, a peak-to-average-power-ratio spectral constraint. Based minorization-maximization, propose unified framework tackle constrained problem. Numerical examples show superiority synthesized by proposed algorithms.
