Communicative skills of children with autistic spectrum disorder: clinical and family perception

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the communication skills of children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), considering clinical and family perspective. Methods: from point view parents therapists, language ten ASD was analyzed. All underwent speech therapy at outpatient clinic a Speech Therapy School. Two protocols were used for data collection. Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC), which applied children's parents, Protocol Assessment Pragmatic Skills Children Spectrum Disorders - called (PP), answered by therapists. The examined through descriptive statistical analysis, absolute relative frequency, inferential statistics, Chi-square test, 5% significance all analyses. Results: an expressive presence communicative deficits, in answers presented seen. In protocol it also possible observe same trend, since failed score several items Subscale I. Conclusion: therapists evidenced changes surveyed, emphasized that who have technical linguistic knowledge, like can be good informants about their development process.
