Sleep disturbances contribute to a high frequency of mental health and cardiovascular diseases with significant gender differences. Women have higher incidence than men insomnia are more likely complain insomnia, headache, irritability, fatigue the ‘‘typical’’ symptoms loud snoring apneas during sleep. Reproductive hormones play an important role in sleep women. In premenopausal age these protective effect on apnea while pregnancy there is prevalence restless legs syndrome. Cardiovascular mortality women obstructive continuous positive airway pressure therapy improves outcomes most cases apnea. The epidemiology, risk factors, diagnostic criteria, therapies for three common disorders (insomnia, apnea, leg syndrome), along effects menopause, pregnancy, social factors women, key considerations clinicians caring female patients across adult life span.
