Commitment Systems in Cross‐boundary Work

چکیده

Work increasingly takes place across organizational boundaries. This has implications for workers’ commitments to a plethora of targets, including the organization and client, as well conflicting nature interrelation between these commitments. In this paper, we draw on commitment system theory (CST), which views malleable interconnected system. Using pragmatic abductive quantitative discovery approach, distinguish develop systems consist strength, multiple targets types commitment, interaction commitments, coupling nature. particular, theoretical understanding dimension by identifying two target-neutral conflict one context- target-specific type conflict. Three are identified: ‘balanced system’, ‘conflicting ‘detached system’. Furthermore, provide insights into how job demands resources contextual aspects influence membership systems. paper is first empirically explore system, it advances in cross-boundary space. Our study discusses theoretical, methodological practical organizations that compete with their clients employees.
