Clinical profile, management and post operative outcome in patients with anorectal malformations

Background: Anorectal malformations (ARM) form a very important group of anomalies dealt by pediatric surgeons. Identification different forms the anomaly, planning investigation and definitive surgical procedure to attain final goal continent child, remains difficult task till date. Aim study was complete clinical profile ARM patient, post operative outcome with special emphasis on continence. Methods: We conducted at Geetanjali medical college, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India for management patients assessment post-operative outcome. All cases operated from August 2016 June 2021 were included in study. aspects anomaly i.e., type, age sex distribution, associated anomalies, technique used op complications assessed. Evaluation continence done Kelly's scoring system. Results: The 71% had staged surgery posterior sagittal ano-rectoplasty (PSARP) being most common (71%). Immediate nil. Incontinence present 29% patients. Constipation 46% On assessing 96% satisfactory score. Postoperative achieved 70.8% 83.3% after treatment (bowel management). Conclusions: Meticulous sphincter identification proper placement ano-rectum are achieve desired results. is assess results plan incontinence. With aggressive bowel it possible reasonable quality life even those poor prognosis.
