CCL3 and CCL5 as potential markers of carotid atherosclerotic plaque stability – preliminary research

Introduction: Carotid atherosclerosis is one of the main causes ischaemic stroke. The study verified hypothesis on relationship between expression selected inflammatory markers and stability atherosclerotic plaque in stroke patients. Aim: aim was to determine CCL3 CCL5 levels both plasma carotid plaques relation history stroke, as well assess morphology stability. Materials methods: chemokines were determined by ELISA for supernatants homogenates from patients undergoing endarterectomy due at least 70% artery stenosis. Results: Both found plaques, with elevated unstable plaques. Furthermore, showed significantly higher compared healthy individuals. Conclusions: are likely be involved processes contributing development plaque, but this needs confirmed further studies.
