Automation in the simulation of processes with Aspen HYSYS: An academic approach

Abstract Aspen HYSYS is a typical tool used in some Master Chemical Engineering courses at the University of Castilla‐La Mancha like “Analysis and Optimization Processes” “Dynamic Process: Regulation Plants.” Automation process linking commercial software to third‐parties applications built EXCEL‐Visual Basic for Applications. The capability automation as powerful simulating unprecedented complex processes suggests that it could be relevant background complement classical one offered by university. In this sense, seminar about based on study two cases: refrigeration production taken from literature, has been proposed Mancha. analysis survey performed subject evaluation resulted very positive. Students consider methodology course potentiality developing their research professional skills appropriately. However, more examples are required better understand concept its potential application other situations. Finally, they declare requires lot expertise deep knowledge programming correct numerical methods solving problems.
