Are financial assets priced locally or globally?
We review the international finance literature to assess the extent to which international factors affect financial asset demands and prices. International asset pricing models with mean-variance investors predict that an asset’s risk premium depends on its covariance with the world market portfolio and, possibly, with exchange rate changes. The existing empirical evidence shows that a country’...
متن کاملPredicting OWL Reasoners: Locally or Globally?
We propose a novel approach for performance prediction of OWL reasoners. It selects suitable, small ontology subsets, and then extrapolates reasoner’s performance on them to the whole ontology. We investigate intercorrelation of ontology features using PCA. Finally, we discuss various error measures for performance prediction and compare our approach against an existing one using these measures.

How cells generate a single axis of polarity for mating, division, and movement is unknown. In this issue, Howell et al. (2009) use a synthetic biology approach to demonstrate that rapid competition for a soluble signaling component (Bem1) is essential to ensure a unique axis of polarity in budding yeast.
متن کاملTechnological change has revolutionized the way financial assets are traded
Technology changes the way securities are traded. Both liquidity suppliers and liquidity demanders use computer algorithms to improve and automate their trading. Liquidity demanders attempt to minimize the price impact of a large order by dividing their order into small parts and executing it over time across multiple markets. Liquidity demanders do this to disguise the magnitude of their tradi...
متن کاملSeparable states are more disordered globally than locally.
A remarkable feature of quantum entanglement is that an entangled state of two parties, Alice ( A) and Bob ( B), may be more disordered locally than globally. That is, S(A)>S(A,B), where S(*) is the von Neumann entropy. It is known that satisfaction of this inequality implies that a state is nonseparable. In this paper we prove the stronger result that for separable states the vector of eigenva...
