Analysis of Histopathological Findings in Endometrium of Peri-Menopausal Women Presenting with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

Objective: To analyze histopathological findings in endometrium of peri-menopausal women presenting with dysfunctional uterine bleeding at a tertiary care hospital South Punjab, Pakistan. Study Design: Cross sectional study. Place and Duration the Study: The Department Obstetrics & Gynecology, Bakhtawar Amin Trust Teaching Hospital, Multan, Pakistan from April 2021 to March 2022. Material Methods: During study period, total 141 (aged 41 55 years) who presented abnormal vaginal underwent diagnostic endometrial curettage for histological analysis were included. A detailed history careful systemic pelvic examinations performed. Endometrial tissue was obtained during dilatation (D&C) preserved 10% formaline subjected histopathologic analysis. Clinical information all subjects recorded. Results: In women, mean age calculated be 47±7 years. Except 24 (17.0%) patients already menopausal, 67 (47.5%) had normal length menstrual cycle. Nearly half histology endometrium. Simple hyperplasia present 18 (12.8%) complex 10 (7.1%). Only 2 cases (1.4%) each atypical carcinoma reported on histology. Five (3.5%) decidual change endometrium, which mostly due prior intake progestogens as part medical therapy. Inflammation not uncommon 19 (13.5%) presence inflammatory cells Conclusion: Peri-menopausal should undergo rule out possibility malignant or pre-malignant pathology. perimenopausal patients, biopsy other methods detecting must considered early investigation.
