ACCESSIBLE PATH FINDING FOR HISTORIC URBAN ENVIRONMENTS: FEATURE EXTRACTION AND VECTORIZATION FROM POINT CLOUDS

Abstract. Sidewalk inventory is a topic whose importance increasing together with the widespread use of smart city management. In order to manage properly and make informed decisions, it necessary know real conditions city. Furthermore, when planning calculating cultural routes within city, these must take into account specific needs all users. Therefore, important city’s sidewalk network also their physical geometrical characteristics. Typically, are generated basing on existing cartographic data, attributes gathered through crowdsourcing. this paper, an historic was produced starting from point cloud data. The semantically segmented in ”roads” ”sidewalks”, then cluster points sidewalks surfaces were used compute generate vector layer composed nodes edges. accessible paths between Points Interest, using QGIS. tests made case study, UNESCO site Sabbioneta (Italy), shows vectorization accuracy 98.7%. future, layers computed could be maps for planners, develop web or mobile phones routing apps.
