چکیده
Background: Understanding the response of bacteria to environmental stress is hampered by relative insensitivity methods detect growth. This means studies antibiotic resistance and other physiological often exceed 24 hours. Methods: We developed a scattered light detection system (SLIC) address this challenge, establishing LoD (LoD), time growth small inocula. compared light-scattering grown in different nutrient conditions dynamics two closely related organisms. Scattering data was modelled using Gompertz Broken Stick equations. Bacteria were also exposed meropenem, gentamicin, cefoxitin at various concentrations captured real-time. Findings: established for SLIC be between 10-100 cfu mL-1 volume 1-2mL. Quantitative measurements effects on obtained less than four hours it possible rapidly distinguish differences of Klebsiella pneumoniae strains with without BlaKPC gene. There dose-dependent difference speed action each tested supra-MIC concentrations. The lethal effect lytic slow bactericidal demonstrated real-time. Significantly, that sensitive antibiotics could identified seconds. Interpretation: research demonstrates critical importance improving sensitivity bacterial detection. ability assess susceptibility capture wealth presented. rapid an important finding needs incorporated into pharmacokinetic pharmacodynamic models. Importantly, enhanced opens possibility results being reportable clinically few minutes. Logical Projection Vectors Method To Label Connected Components In Binary Images For Simple Real-Time Applications
This paper proposes a new method to efficiently label connected components in binary images. There exist many methods for this but they all are complex enough to prohibit implementation for simple realtime applications such as robotics. The proposed method is very simple in terms of implementation complexity and extremely fast, at the cost of a small fraction of accuracy. This approach is best ...
متن کاملReal time and label free profiling of clinically relevant exosomes
Tumor-derived exosomes possess significant clinical relevance due to their unique composition of genetic and protein material that is representative of the parent tumor. Specific isolation as well as identification of proportions of these clinically relevant exosomes (CREs) from biological samples could help to better understand their clinical significance as cancer biomarkers. Herein, we prese...
متن کاملKeep It Simple and Sparse: Real-Time Action Recognition
Sparsity has been showed to be one of the most important properties for visual recognition purposes. In this paper we show that sparse representation plays a fundamental role in achieving one-shot learning and real-time recognition of actions. We start off from RGBD images, combine motion and appearance cues and extract state-of-the-art features in a computationally efficient way. The proposed ...
متن کاملNanowire biosensors for label-free, real-time, ultrasensitive protein detection.
Sensitive and quantitative analysis of proteins is central to disease diagnosis, drug screening, and proteomic studies. Among recent research advances exploiting new nanomaterials for biomolecule analysis, silicon nanowires (SiNWs), which are configured as field-effect transistors (FETs), have emerged as one of the most promising and powerful platforms for label-free, real-time, and highly sens...
