A real-time dispatching strategy for shared automated electric vehicles with performance guarantees

Real-time vehicle dispatching operations in traditional car-sharing systems is an already computationally challenging scheduling problem. Electrification only exacerbates the computational difficulties as charge level constraints come into play. To overcome this complexity, we employ online minimum drift plus penalty (MDPP) approach for SAEV that (i) does not require a priori knowledge of customer arrival rates to different parts system (i.e. it practical from real-world deployment perspective), (ii) ensures stability waiting times, (iii) deviation dispatch costs desirable cost can be controlled, and (iv) has time-complexity allows real-time implementation. Using agent-based simulator developed systems, test MDPP under two scenarios with calibrated demand charger distributions: 1) low-demand scenario long trips, 2) high-demand short trips. The comparisons other algorithms both show proposed outperforms all terms reduced times costs.
