چکیده
The genus Phlebotomus (Diptera: Psychodidae: Phlebotominae) comprises a group of small winged insect species medical importance. To date, ten are known to be present in Greece; yet their evolutionary history is poorly studied due the lack comprehensive phylogenetic and phylogeographic studies. Herein, we aim clarify relationships amongst local collected from 12 Aegean Islands, Cyprus Turkey; identify which palaeogeographic events may have influenced biogeographic history. Our analyses revealed for first time presence P. cf. major sergenti Islands. All were retrieved as monophyletic mtDNA nDNA trees indicated plausible mitochondrial introgression between closely related complex. From viewpoint, driving force that shaped seems dispersal started Oligocene epoch, followed by several speciation occurred at end Miocene Plio-Pleistocene, including multiple Asiatic origin. Messinian Salinity Crisis, bimodal Mediterranean climate, glacial interglacial periods identified key drivers diversification .

Phlebotomine sand flies from Madagascar (Diptera: Psychodidae). VIII--Phlebotomus (Anaphlebotomus) vincenti n. sp.
A new species of Phlebotomine sand fly (Diptera: Psychodidae) is described from Mikea Forest in the southwest of Madagascar: Phlebotomus vincenti n. sp. It is temporarily classified in the subgenus Anaphlebotomus according to its spermathecal organization, similar to those of P. berentiensis, P. fertei and P. vaomalalae, previously classified in the subgenus Anaphlebotomus referring to on male ...
متن کاملAnthropophilic and zoophilic phlebotomine sand flies (Diptera, Psychodidae) from Thailand.
As a result of extensive surveys of sand flies carried out during 1987-90 in Thailand, species including a man-biter, Phlebotomus hoepplii, and cattle-biters, P. argentipes and P. major major, were discovered in Kanchanaburi Province. The human-baited catches revealed a low density of P. hoepplii and the biting occurred during 2100-2300 hours. Phlebotomus hoepplii was also found feeding on buff...
متن کاملNew Records of Phlebotomine Sand Flies (diptera: Psychodidae) from Ecuador.
The number of recorded phlebotomine sand fly species in Ecuador has nearly doubled during the past 20 years as a result of surveys. In 2005, a sand fly survey of two localities, Tiputini in the Amazon rain forest and Paraiso Escondido in the Pacific coastal lowland forest, resulted in the capture of 25 species. New records for Ecuador consisted of five species from the Amazonian region and one ...
متن کاملExposure to Phlebotomus argentipes (Diptera, Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) Sand Flies in Rural Areas of Bihar, India: The Role of Housing Conditions
BACKGROUND Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) is a vector-borne infectious disease, caused by the protozoan Leishmania donovani, which is transmitted by phlebotomine sand flies. In an earlier study in Bihar, India, we found an association between incidence of VL and housing conditions. In the current study we investigated the influence of housing structure and conditions in and around the house on the...
متن کاملSampling strategies for phlebotomine sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae) in Europe.
The distribution of phlebotomine sand flies is widely reported to be changing in Europe. This can be attributed to either the discovery of sand flies in areas where they were previously overlooked (generally following an outbreak of leishmaniasis or other sand fly-related disease) or to true expansion of their range as a result of climatic or environmental changes. Routine surveillance for phle...
