A Comparative Analysis Between Timber Industry and Nontimber Forest Products Industry in Relation to Sustainability and Operators' Proactiveness

Abstract The balance among forest industry development, operators' well-being, and environmental conservation has been noted as an emerging concern in sustainability strategy. In this study, we innovatively adopted a multidimensional assessment method that integrates economic, environmental, social dimensions to compare the comprehensive of roundwood, bamboo, tea products, fruit industries, which are representative subtypes timber nontimber products (NTFP) industry. Additionally, our study examined whether relationship exists between industry's proactiveness. We collected data on selected types operators involved productive loans from 115 villages southern China 2008 2020. Empirical results indicate increase rank subtype led growth financing amount. Specifically, NTFP motivated proactiveness more than did industry, effect was considerably greater company group household group. Our findings reveal necessity policy interventions developing countries encourage transition optimizing industrial structure sustainable forestry operations, could initiate socio-economic goal sustained resource use sector output through natural promotion posed by advantages.
