چکیده

This paper presents a design of 48 GHz CMOS phase-locked loop (PLL) for 60 millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication systems. For the sliding intermediate frequency (sliding-IF) transceiver applications, fundamental PLL with quadrature clock generation scheme is proposed. Specifically, an implicit capacitive-bridged shunt peaking network, second order harmonic filtering technique realized in voltage control oscillator (VCO) to broaden bandpass response, thereby avoiding complex common-mode resonant tank calibration and improving phase noise performance. A robust current mode logic (CML) static divider topology adopted realize prescaler generate clock. With load biasing circuit, locking range high performance improved its reliability enhanced over PVT corners. To improve image suppression ratio transceiver, proposed verified. Fabricated 65 nm process, occupies core area 800 ?m × 950 ?m. Over 45.2 52.6 GHz, measured in-band better than ?90 dBc/Hz@100 KHz offset, jitter less 155 fs. Moreover, reference spur ?60 dBc/Hz.

Antenna Beamforming for a 60 GHz Transceiver System

The main target of a 60 GHz transceiver system is to obtain data rates close to gigabits per second (Gbps) over short distances. The 60 GHz band suffers from severe pathloss, inter-symbol interference (ISI) and a limited link budget. In order to improve the link budget, beamforming techniques are utilized. Antenna beamforming, i.e., combining signals from multiple receive antennas is one of the...

Automatic Analog Beamforming Transceiver for 60 GHz Radios

We propose a transceiver architecture for automatic beamforming and instantaneous setup of a multigigabit-per-second wireless link between two millimeter wave radios. The retro-directive architecture eliminates necessity of slow and complex digital algorithms required for searching and tracking the directions of opposite end radios. Simulations predict <5 micro-seconds setup time for a 2Gbps bi...

Characteristics of 60 GHz Analog RF-Optic Transceiver Module

Using an electro-absorption duplexer (EAD) we presented a transceiver (TRx) module for dual function of both electrical-to-optical (E/O) and optical-to-electrical (E/O) conversion at 60 GHz band. The EAD chip was fabricated by monolithically integrating both a waveguide photodiode (PD) and an electro-absorption modulator (EAM) in association with traveling wave electrodes. We also investigated ...

6-2 A 2-GHz Direct Sampling Delta-Sigma Tunable Receiver with 40-GHz Sampling Clock and On-chip PLL

This paper presents a 2-GHz tunable direct sampling receiver with 40-GHz sampling clock and on-chip PLL, fabricated in a production 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS process. The measured SFDR and SNDR are 59 dB and 59.84 dB, respectively, over a bandwidth of 60 MHz, and the effective number of bits (ENOB) equals 9.65. Compared to the case where an external low-noise 40-GHz clock was used, no SNDR degradation...

Antenna Count for Massive MIMO: 1.9 GHz versus 60 GHz

If we assume line-of-sight propagation and perfect channel state information at the base station – consistent with slow moving terminals – then a direct performance comparison between single-cell Massive MIMO at PCS and mmWave frequency bands is straightforward and highly illuminating. Line-of-sight propagation is considered favorable for mmWave because of minimal attenuation, and its facilitat...
