2D Homologous Perovskites as Light-Absorbing Materials for Solar Cell Applications.
We report on the fabrication and properties of the semiconducting 2D (CH3(CH2)3NH3)2(CH3NH3)(n-1)Pb(n)I(3n+1) (n = 1, 2, 3, and 4) perovskite thin films. The band gaps of the series decrease with increasing n values, from 2.24 eV (CH3(CH2)3NH3)2PbI4 (n = 1) to 1.52 eV CH3NH3PbI3 (n = ∞). The compounds exhibit strong light absorption in the visible region, accompanied by strong photoluminescence...
متن کاملInvestigation of Bismuth Iodine as Light Absorbing Materials for Solar Cell Applications: From Synthesis to XPS Characterisation
During the last years perovskite materials have taken the photovoltaic community by storm, bringing promises of solar cells with efficiencies comparable to conventional silicon devices but at a lower price. However perovskite solar cells so far are facing two main obstacles, they are unstable in the presence of air, moisture and heat and they are usually toxic due to being based on lead-halide ...
متن کاملMaterials Based on Carbazole for Organic Solar Cells Applications. Theoretical Investigations
The research in new organic π-conjugated molecules with specific properties has become one of the most interesting topics in fields of materials chemistry. These materials are promising for optoelectronic device technology such as solar cells. On the other hand, the use of low band gap materials is a viable method for better harvesting of the solar spectrum and increasing its efficiency. The Co...
متن کاملRelativistic GW calculations on CH3NH3PbI3 and CH3NH3SnI3 Perovskites for Solar Cell Applications
Hybrid AMX3 perovskites (A = Cs, CH3NH3; M = Sn, Pb; X = halide) have revolutionized the scenario of emerging photovoltaic technologies, with very recent results demonstrating 15% efficient solar cells. The CH3NH3PbI3/MAPb(I(1-x)Cl(x))3 perovskites have dominated the field, while the similar CH3NH3SnI3 has not been exploited for photovoltaic applications. Replacement of Pb by Sn would facilitat...
متن کاملEngineering light outcoupling in 2D materials.
When light is incident on 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), it engages in multiple reflections within underlying substrates, producing interferences that lead to enhancement or attenuation of the incoming and outgoing strength of light. Here, we report a simple method to engineer the light outcoupling in semiconducting TMDCs by modulating their dielectric surroundings. We show that b...
