1D Self-Healing Beams in Integrated Silicon Photonics

Since the first experimental observation of optical Airy beams, various applications ranging from particle and cell micromanipulation to laser micromachining have exploited their nondiffracting accelerating properties. The later discovery that beams can self-heal after being blocked by an obstacle further proved robustness propagate under a scattering disordered environment. Here, we report generation Airy-like beam on integrated silicon photonic chip demonstrate on-chip 1D preserve same properties as 2D beams. synthetic-phase meta-optics used create has size only 3 ?m × 16 ?m, at least orders magnitude smaller than conventional optic. self-healing demonstrated here could potentially enable diffraction-free light routing for networks high-precision biomolecules chip.
